Look's like Nokia have played a blinder with the 770 for aroundish £200-300 you get a wee piece of plastic that does nothing but allows you to surf the web from your sofa - and for a hell of a lot less than a tablet PC- genius!

Theres been a lot of talk of an apple tablet over the past couple of weeks, is this form factor a better fit for the big fruit??

Hi, as of this morning there is a google portal page, which says it can show, gmail, weather etc, only problem is it seems totally borked when you try to log on. Wonder if its because im going in through .co.uk

This time with the, pretty lethal looking controller which is bluetooth. The machine will have wifi and bluetooth (for up to seven controllers, a HD and lots of USB, don't know which one is going to be the better hub between it and the xBox 360, but aat the mo, the ps3 is da bomb, as they say on the street apparently

Yep its been announced at E3 and looks the balls, much speedier than a xBox 360, but no idea the cost. Due springish. As far as the xBox 360 goes, the best news for me is that it will have a global launch before xmas.

Remember i have been using firefox for ages.....

While i was doing the previous post, (when i was getting the godeye image) in safari in tiger, i right clicked to download the image and found there was an 'add image to iphoto library'. interesting, this meant i was able to get it into flickr via the flickr iphoto exporter and posted via a 2 app switch between iphoto and safari, without having to go anywhere near finder.....sweeeeeet!

Although when i heard about this on the podcast, as i was driving at the time, i was intrigued as to what this would be for some reason i thought it was going to be the sterotypical bloke with beard head shot, made out of thousands of stars. Like the beginning of a join the dots drawing, but alas no :(

Actually, as i was uploading this via flickr, i noticed that its much more convincing viewed as a thumbnail...weird...is that because i doubted the lord?

This what happens when highly skilled mac engineers are left a 1st gen ipod by yours truly with an odd unconnecting but charging firewire port. I am in no rush to get it back in anyway as i have my 1gb shuffle, whiich suits my short attention span.

I am just amazed after the stories i have been told by the aforementioned engineers about their attempts to get it working that its in this few parts, temper boys ;)

saw on ipodlounge that 4.8 is out, currently only available on apple usa, but i'm willing to risk it. Apparenly has a video feature in tiger which lets you preview your movies, now thats handy!

safari is winning me back

Just got in and reading my rss feeds, and have to say that safari on tiger really is winning me back from firefox. The rss feed viewer, if you organise your feeds into a folder mind!) is really slick and proves also that gizmodo and engadget near enough always duplicate articles!

Today went and saw tiger being demoed at the only real apple support in Nor4thern Ireland, Mac-sys, www.mac-sys.co.uk.

Best bit was seeing fluff on the batman begins trailer 1080 version running on 30" screen and those who were there will know what im talking about;)

Well thanks to a godawful looking 'gadget' called dash blog, i am typing from tiger, so far so good 30 mins in and nothing startlingly alarming yet, the desktop and finder fell much more responsive, although most apps are acting a bit slow, best bit so far definetely is the rss feed screensaver!

I had deliberately been avoiding going to deep into tiger until i had the thing installed, which time permitting will hopefully be tonite whilst watching the footie.

Therefore i hadn't realised all you need is a bit of web knowledge to write new 'gadgets', since i have what could be loosely called a bit of web knwledge. I may well develop some, only thing is what i would come up with? I tend not to be too imaginative when it comes to things like that-oh look yet another itunes control.....

Had a week to think about Adobe buying Macromedia, and a couple of things have shocked me, first the fact that we certifies are all of a sudden going to find ourselves playing the adobe tune in terms of the majority of our creative processes, and second the number of designers I know who don't know or care about this story!!

In regard to the first, I love my adobe apps and given a choice I would rather adobe was buying Macromedia than vice versa. But this move means a couple of things in terms of print and web, pdf and flash have become by default the defacto content delivery platforms.

'It was ever thus' you will say, yes but now one company makes both, meaning that the primary delivery method for the majority of design work (especially web) is controlled by one company.

All applications used for 95% (that figures a guess btw) of WYSIWYG apps that are used for web creation are made by one company - this isn't good. The primary creative web apps, Dreamweaver, Flash, Imageready, Fireworks (seeya), Acrobat, and a couple of big backend dooha's like coldfusion are now under one roof, meaning one path of integration and development.

But I'm a creative person and I like diversity in the way I do things as it gives me more options and different ways of doing things, it makes me think, it stimulates the little brain matter I have left. And I just feel having one company dictate the way I do things is well....Wrong.

Look at Final Cut on the Mac, I'm getting my grubby mits on a copy of the new final cut studio in a couple of weeks, but the apple video apps I have always felt (especially motion, livetype and soundtrack) have one way of doing things. And if you don't like it, well tough.

So thank god for after effects for motion graphic creation, but that's an adobe app!!!! help And what if adobe decide - screw it, motion and shake on the Mac are killing us, lets do a 'premiere' and pull after effects for the Mac, but that's one of those things I don't want to talk about it as it brings me out in an oily sweat.

As for the 2nd point about designers not caring about this, to be fair most of these are print based designers, who will say the old 'its only a tool, so what'. Maybe I am a geek, but your Mac/PC whatever, is a tool, but its an incredible tool, which allows you to manipulate ideas in a way that just didn't exist 15 years ago. And to have one company control the way you manipulate your creative ideas, is just not right, and if your involved in the creative design process, you should care about this, or it alternatively but shares in adobe.

Its not even like the windows monopoly at least, there if you don't want to use Ms, buy a Mac, or even Linux box, but what are we going to do if we don't want to use adobe products, is that even doable now???

Yep, according to the BBC (again) it would appear we're getting our cakes and eating them, asking for 2nds and having a very large trolley filled with the latest cream buns of bavaria.

The previous made for tv star wars seem to have been wiped from time, and with good reason, but if this keeps the qualities of the current games and from what i've heard the 'clone wars' animated series, this will rock....

Now just to make 'Enterprise watchable' and you have perfect sci-fi tv!

I've just realised i've spent 2 and a half hours of my life watching the same episode of 'Pimp my Ride', in case your wondering its the one with the Hi-jet.

Don't know which is worse, the fact that i am frittering my existence away watching the same episode of an automotive makeover shows, or i am spending approx 3 mins of my existence telling you about it??

The other odd thing is, whenever i catch the 'Vicar of Dibley', its the same episode i see, a xmas one, even in summer!!! Is that TV fate....?

Now im excited as the next man about the whole tiger launch being confirmed for the the 29th of April, but doesn't the way they have incorporated the brushed metal and black style in the bottom half of the web page, while leaving the good old navigation blobs across the top look a bit cack-handed??

Tiger is a big launch why not revamp the whole site accordingly, instead of giving it the apeearance its half done??

Well after spending the entire afternoon at a friends house trying to wrestle with a broadband connection that wouldn't play ball, I came to a conclusion which had been mulling in my head for a while.

Why do AOL exist..If there is a contrary, proprietary way of doing something for no other reason than its a pain they will do it, and then you call them....

...ah technical support by the numbers, problem is the numbers don't add up, and when you think you are getting somewhere the line goes dead.

Also I live near East Belfast, but there are so many times one can hear Van Morrison.........

But other than that the Sony Vaio VGC-V2S has a better screen than a iMac 20" which is a shame, but I want a PC more than a Mac now!
